    • For a billionaire investor, valued enterprises in the local exchange, cable, satellite and wireless businesses, and advised on their financial restructuring.

     

    • For a major Asian telecom company, led the process of acquiring equity stakes in two long distance resellers, from searching for candidates through due diligence, negotiation and closing.

     

    • For a U.S. wireless infrastructure company, prepared a business plan in support of an acquisition and related financing in Europe of a network of sites and other infrastructure.

     

    • For a major law firm, was industry advisor to a legal team, and acted as expert witness in a dispute involving valuation and ownership of a diverse group of telecom companies.

     

    • For a Mexican conglomerate selling its telecom division in a stock-for-stock exchange, evaluated the strategy, condition and prospects of the buyer, and advised on the exchange’s financial terms.

     

    • For an Asian telecom infrastructure manufacturer, analyzed the strategy and business plan of a large PCS company that was a potential customer.  Made recommendations regarding the  structuring of vendor financing.

     

    • For a Mexican data company, provided strategic advice on the evolution of the Mexican telecom industry, the company’s positioning within the industry and the possibility of forming alliances with foreign telecom service providers.

     

    • For a large U.S. PCS company, prepared a valuation to be used for the company’s stock option plan.  Study required analyzing the company’s business plan, and performing various types of valuation analysis, including discounted cash flow and comparables analysis.

     

    • For a small Canadian PCS company, wrote an Application for a cellular license for a small Caribbean country.  Prepared a ten year business plan, and described the new venture’s marketing, technical, financial and implementation plans.

     

    • For a U.S. cable and telephone company, evaluated cellular and paging opportunities in a major Asian nation.  Prepared cellular and paging models, and valued regional and nationwide licenses.

     

    • For a large paging company, prepared a License Application for submission to the SCT in Mexico.  The Application described the new venture’s marketing, technical, financial and build-out plans.

     

    • For AirTouch and Loral Space Systems, searched Mexico for a local partner to form a joint venture to offer Globalstar service. After meeting with a large number of Mexico’s best companies, I recommended Telefonica Autrey.  Impressed with my knowledge of telecommunications in Latin America, Telefonica Autrey has become my client at SFCG.

     

    • For a large paging company, prepared a License Application for submission to Canadian regulators.  Related work included evaluation of the local partner and preparation of a new business plan for the joint venture.

     

    • For Hansol, a spin-off from Samsung, evaluated U.S. PCS companies as candidates for an investment by and strategic relationship with Hansol.  I recommended Omnipoint, and successfully negotiated the transaction.  Two months later, Hansol doubled the value of its investment when Omnipoint went public.  Three months after that, Omnipoint offered me a job as head of corporate development.

     

    • For a Middle Eastern investor, appraised cellular opportunities in Africa. Study addressed political, macroeconomic and regulatory issues, the current state of wireline and wireless telecommunications, and included preparation of a “generic” cellular model for evaluating wireless opportunities in developing countries.
